What is non-medical home care?

Non-medical home care specializes in providing clients with compassionate caregivers in the familiar comfort of their own home.

How long have you been in business?

We have been in business since 1999.

Are you licensed?

We are licensed to provide non-medical home care by the governing authority in each state where licensing is required.

Is your agency recognized by any accredited organizations?

We are in good standing with the National Private Duty Association (NPDA) and the California Association for Health Services at Home (CAHSAH.)

What services do you offer?

Our caregivers, who are all employees of Caring Companions At Home, help our clients with such activities of daily living (ADL's) as personal care, meals and transportation.

Do you offer short- and long-term non-medical home care services?

We provide hourly, part-time and live-in caregivers. We are one of the few companies that offer a two-hour minimum per visit.

Do you provide caregivers to help clients in hospitals, rehab centers and assisted living facilities?

Our caregivers are trained to assist clients in these types of facilities. We also offer hospital and rehab care to patients recently discharged from such facilities. Our caregivers work closely with family members to ensure a smooth transition.

Do you come to the home to meet with the client and/or family members?

We visit the client’s home for a thorough “In-Home Assessment” of the senior’s needs and the living situation. Our Case Manager then completes a “Plan of Care” that is helpful to our staff and the client’s family.

What makes Caring Companions At Home different?

Caring Companions At Home is a home care agency pioneer in Orange County. Our company president has been in the senior field for over 25 years with extensive experience in Assisted Living Facilities. We are one of the few companies that offer a two-hour minimum per visit. We also offer a choice of caregivers and free in-home assessment of the client’s needs.

Are your caregivers supervised after they are placed with a client?

After we make the initial placement, we are in constant touch with our caregiver and client to ensure that everything is working smoothly and that both parties are happy. Our case managers visit periodically (via phone and in person) to assess the situation in the home.

What are your hours?

Caring Companions At Home’s caregivers are available from 2 to 24 hours a day. All services are available 7 days a week including holidays. Our office hours are 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Of course, we are available 24 hours, 7 days a week by phone in case of emergency.

Who are your caregivers?

We only recruit highly qualified caregivers. Most have worked previously in hospitals, rehab centers or assisted living facilities. Many have been employees of Caring Companions At Home for several years.

How are your caregivers screened?

We thoroughly screen each prospective employee. Work history and personal references are checked. National background checks are conducted for criminal, DMV and social security records. E-verify, a national Homeland Security system, confirms name, date of birth and social security numbers. We also review and verify all professional credentials.

Can your caregivers transport and accompany clients to doctor’s appointments and activities outside the home?

Yes, in fact we encourage participation in social outings and activities since it is important to our client’s activities of daily living (ADL's).

What other services do you offer?

Caring Companions At Home is a great referral source for other services that help seniors and their families with their day-to-day living needs. Meals on Wheels, Adult Day Care, Assisted Living Facilities, Lifeline, Transportation and Medical Supplies are just a few examples. We also provide babysitters to help new mothers when they first come home from the hospital and on an ongoing basis. Please call our office for more information.

How does your service work?

No two clients are alike. That is why we have created a four-step process to ensure a perfect fit.

Step 1 - Case Manager Home Visit: We schedule a convenient home visit to assess your loved one’s needs.

Step 2 - Plan of Care: We present a written a plan of care. All hours, services and fees are outlined clearly.

Step 3 - Caregiver Match: We recommend a choice of 2-3 caregivers. You choose the one that best matches your loved one’s needs.

Step 4 - Case Manager Visits: We visit periodically (via phone and in person) to personally assess your loved one’s case.

Will insurance companies cover non-medical home care?

Some health insurance companies provide a limited amount of coverage for these type of services. Most Long Term Care insurance and Workers Compensation policies cover our services. We work very closely with all parties involved to provide information as well as complete the necessary paperwork for reimbursement. Does the Veterans Administration provide veterans and surviving spouses with assistance for home care?

If you are a veteran or surviving spouse, and you need assistance at home due to your disabilities, you may be eligible for a non-service disability pension. Please contact our office and speak to one of our Case Managers for more details.

Who pays for the services?

The client or family is billed directly for our services.

What are the minimum hours you require?

2 hours per visit.
